Let me paint you a picture: it's a gorgeous summer weekend in July. You're slowly getting ready to marry your best friend. It's a warm one, but you don't care because you're getting married lakeside with all of your friends and family. There's delicious food, yummy local beers, and amazing sweet treats waiting to be devoured. It's the perfect summer wedding in Ontario.
Meagan and Zack celebrated their wedding on July 20, 2024, in Keewatin. The beautiful ceremony and reception took place at Zack's aunt's lakeside home, and it was the perfect spot for a small gathering.
The morning felt quiet in the best way. No rush, no chaos — just slow moments and soft excitement building. Laughter and music drifting between rooms. The kind of getting ready that feels calm and intentional. And would you believe me if I told you I was a hairstylist for a split second, stepping in to braid and pin Meagan's hair? Because it happened, haha. (Thank you for letting me help.)
Before guests arrived, Meagan and Zack shared a first look tucked away near the water. Just the two of them, the dock, and the sound of the lake behind them. And I can't forget to mention Zack's bright orange Crocs. It's always nerve-racking doing the first-look, but you could also feel the nerves settle the second they saw each other. It was grounding and emotional without being over the top — just honest and full of love.
We took some portraits before it was time for me to drive to the other side of the lake to witness their fun and unique boat entrance together.
Their ceremony took place right on the deck overlooking the lake. Friends and family gathered close, the sun reflecting off the water behind them as they said their vows. It felt intimate and personal, like everyone there truly knew them and their story. And what better way to officially say "I do" than to sign into wood board made by Zack with heat. The coolest way to marry your partner.
Cocktail hour flowed easily into the reception. Cold drinks in hand, guests mingled along the water, catching up and soaking it all in. Long tables, heartfelt speeches, incredible food, and that relaxed lakeside energy that makes time feel slower. We captured family photos right after the ceremony and a large group photo of all guests before the rest of the night began.
During the reception, we sat and listened to really sweet speeches by the couple, their friends and family. It was the perfect way to sit and relax before the dance floor opened for the night. But, before that, I can't forget to mention the delicious dessert table made by Zack's brother's partner. If I could have eaten everything, I would have.
As the sun dipped lower, the dance floor filled up — no convincing needed. The music got louder, the hugs lasted longer, and the joy felt effortless. Drinks, snacks, and conversations filled the air as the night went on.
And because this is what a July lakeside wedding is all about, the night didn’t end with just dancing. It ended with a dip in the lake.
Shoes kicked off. Dress slightly damp. Laughter and music echoed across the water. The kind of ending that feels spontaneous and unforgettable. It was the best way to end the night.
It was warm. It was relaxed. It was deeply personal. And it was so completely them.
If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels more like a summer weekend with your favourite people than a formal event, this is your sign.
Congratulations to Meagan and Zack. 💖
