Meet the Photographer

Tansi, My name is Gin Ouskun

Welcome! I'm Gin, a Winnipeg wedding photographer who believes the most meaningful photographs are the ones that capture how a moment felt, not just how it looked.

Photography began as a hobby long before it became my career, and I've been professionally documenting weddings, couples, and families since 2021. My work has been featured in The Globe and Mail and published in the book 111 Places in Winnipeg That You Must Not Miss, and these experiences have shaped my eye for genuine storytelling and authentic moments.

As a wife and mom, I know just how quickly life's biggest milestones become cherished memories. That's why I approach every wedding with a guided and documentary style, capturing the laughter, happy tears, quiet glances, and all the in-between moments so you can relive your day exactly as it happened for years to come.

If you're looking for a photographer who values genuine connection over perfect poses and wants you to spend more time celebrating than standing in front of the camera, I'd love to tell your story.

What it’s like to work together

Working with me feels less like hiring a photographer and more like having a trusted friend by your side who just happens to have a camera. If you're worried about feeling awkward in front of the camera, you're in good company, and that's exactly where I come in. You don't need to know how to pose or wonder what to do with your hands. From the moment you book, I'll guide you with gentle direction and encouragement, creating a relaxed experience where you can simply be yourselves. My goal is for you to spend less time thinking about the camera and more time soaking in every moment together.

My approach is calm, observant, and people-first. I'll step in when you need a little guidance and step back when the real moments begin to unfold. Whether it's your wedding day, an engagement session, or another meaningful milestone, I'm always looking for the quiet glances, joyful laughter, heartfelt embraces, and all the beautiful in-between moments that tell your story honestly. These are the memories that deserve to be remembered just as they happened.

Your vision matters deeply to me. If there's a tradition that's important to your family, a meaningful location, or a moment you don't want to miss, we'll plan for it together. I'm here to support you every step of the way so you can feel confident, cared for, and fully present throughout the experience.

Together, we'll create timeless, authentic photographs that not only capture how your day looked, but also preserve how it felt. Images you'll treasure for a lifetime.

111 places in Winnipeg that you must not miss

something different that I've done

In 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to work on a project that led me to become a published photographer! Capturing different places around Winnipeg was both a fun challenge and a refreshing change from my usual work. It was an honor to be part of this project, and I’ll always cherish the memories of exploring these spots with my friends and ever-patient family.

Now, I’d love to bring that same sense of adventure to your photos! Winnipeg is full of unique and breathtaking locations, from the world’s largest snow maze to hidden alleyway art and peaceful nature escapes.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable backdrop for your next photoshoot, let’s take inspiration from 111 Places in Winnipeg That You Must Not Miss! Grab a copy at Indigo or local favourites like McNally Robinson and Whodunit, and let’s plan something amazing together.
