Tansi, Hello
I'M GIN.
Welcome to Gin Ouskun Photography! I'm a Winnipeg wedding and lifestyle photographer. So happy that you're here. My name is Gindalee Ouskun, but I prefer to go by Gin. I'm an Indigenous photographer and the creative iskwew behind the camera, the mastermind of creating beautiful images.
What it’s like to work together
If you’re worried about feeling awkward in photos, you’re in good company, and that’s exactly where I come in. You don’t need to know how to pose or what to do with your hands. From the moment you book, I’ll guide you gently and intentionally, creating space for you to feel comfortable, present, and fully yourself.
My approach is calm, observant, and focused on people first. I’ll step in when you need direction and step back when the real moments are unfolding. Whether it’s a wedding day, a lifestyle session, or an event, I focus on capturing moments as they naturally happen. The in-between moments, the quiet connections, the joy that does not need staging.
Your vision matters deeply to me. If there’s something meaningful you want documented or an idea you’re excited about, we’ll talk it through and make room for it. Together, we’ll create images that feel honest and personal. Photos that reflect who you are and what this season of your life truly feels like.
something different that i have done
In 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to work on a project that led me to become a published photographer! Capturing different places around Winnipeg was both a fun challenge and a refreshing change from my usual work. It was an honor to be part of this project, and I’ll always cherish the memories of exploring these spots with my friends and ever-patient family.
Now, I’d love to bring that same sense of adventure to your photos! Winnipeg is full of unique and breathtaking locations, from the world’s largest snow maze to hidden alleyway art and peaceful nature escapes.
If you’re looking for an unforgettable backdrop for your next photoshoot, let’s take inspiration from 111 Places in Winnipeg That You Must Not Miss! Grab a copy at Indigo or local favorites like McNally Robinson and Whodunit, and let’s plan something amazing together.
A few things I love to capture:
Riven (Of Course)
Need I say more? I didn't have a dog growing up, so getting a little furry friend brought so much joy to my life.
Laughter
Something I love to capture, as a wedding photographer is laughter. You can feel the happiness through the photo every time you capture someone or everyone's laugh.
Film Photography
The slow process of waiting to see the results of the film is so exciting. I love receiving the prints and seeing what worked or didn't.
Adventure
Being outdoors is one of my favourite places to be, and including adventure in your photos will forever bring me joy. Let's take some time to explore the great outdoors during your engagement, family or branding session.
Get to Know me Better
Besides my dog, laughter, film and hiking, you'll always find me reading a book or two.
And I'm also a mom of two!
I'm introverted, so I really do enjoy my alone time at home, but when I'm with friends and family, I'm living and enjoying every moment.
