Magi & Ormeya | A Wedding Week Full of Joy, Tradition & Celebration
I don't know if you're ready for this one! It's been a couple years and I've been itching to write about Magi and Ormeya's wedding festivities in August 2024.
There are some wedding days that stay with you long after the gallery has been delivered. Magi and Ormeya’s wedding was one of those days.

On August 16, 2024, I had the joy of documenting not just a wedding, but an entire week of celebration. Their wedding festivities included a beautiful henna ceremony, a wedding day filled with meaningful details and traditions, and so many little moments that made their celebrations feel completely their own.
We started the week together at their henna ceremony, where I got to spend time documenting the details, the people, and the anticipation surrounding the days ahead. For portraits that evening, we headed to Kings Park, where we took some time away before the celebrations for the two of them to simply be together. It was such a beautiful way to document this part of their wedding story. Surrounded by the people and traditions that mattered to them, but also with a few quiet moments that were just theirs.
Then came the wedding day!
We started at the Fort Garry Hotel for their first look and portraits of them and their family. There is something so special about a first look from their adjoining rooms! That brief moment when the rest of the day seems to pause, and two people get to see each other for the first time. I can't forget to mention Magi's cathedral veil; it was something I still think about, haha. The length, the grandness of it?! Paired with her beautiful dress, it was one of those details that felt almost impossible to forget.
But what made their wedding so memorable wasn't just how beautiful everything looked. It was how much thought had gone into every part of the day. From the details they chose to the people surrounding them, there was a sense that everything had meaning. At each table at their reception was olive oil. One of the best I've ever had. It was such a thoughtful gift!
From the Fort Garry, we made our way to the church for their wedding ceremony. There were tears, laughter, anticipation, and that unmistakable feeling of watching two people begin a new chapter together. It was emotional in all the ways a wedding day should be.
After the ceremony, we headed into Winnipeg's Exchange District for more portraits before making our way to the reception. I love this part of a wedding day — when the formalities begin to give way to celebration. We had time to wander, take photographs, and let the two of them enjoy being newly married before rejoining their guests.
And then it was time to celebrate.
Looking back at Magi and Ormeya's wedding, what I remember most isn't one single photograph or one particular part of the day. It's the collection of moments: the excitement of the henna ceremony, their time together at Kings Park, the anticipation of their first look, the cathedral veil, the emotion of the ceremony, wandering through the Exchange, and eventually being surrounded by the people who came to celebrate with them.
There was laughter. There were tears. There were beautiful details that had clearly been thought through with so much care. And there was so much love woven through the entire week.
Being able to document a wedding like this is one of the reasons I love what I do. I get to step into someone's story for a little while, meet the people who mean the most to them, and preserve the moments that might otherwise pass by too quickly.
Magi and Ormeya, thank you for letting me be there for so much of your celebration. From the henna ceremony to the last portraits in the Exchange, it was an honour to witness and photograph your wedding story.
